What KYC is and why Exchange22 needs it
KYC is a one-time identity check that Indian fantasy apps are required to run under anti-money-laundering rules. On Exchange22, you complete KYC by uploading your PAN card and Aadhaar card, then matching a selfie to the photo on your Aadhaar. Until KYC is cleared, you can deposit and play, but you cannot withdraw.
This is normal across the Indian fantasy app market. The reason: the operator is required to verify that the person depositing and withdrawing is the same person who owns the bank account.
What you'll need
- Your PAN card (the 10-character alphanumeric card, not just the number).
- Your Aadhaar card (the 12-digit number; a photo of the card is fine).
- A clear, well-lit selfie that matches your Aadhaar photo.
- Your bank account details (account number, IFSC, name as on the account).
Step-by-step: the KYC flow on Exchange22
- Open Exchange22 and sign in. Use the mobile number you registered with.
- Tap My Profile → Verification. You'll see four checkpoints: Mobile (done), Email, PAN, Aadhaar.
- Add your PAN. Type the 10-character PAN, then upload a clear photo of the card. Make sure the name and date of birth are readable.
- Add your Aadhaar. Type the 12-digit Aadhaar number and upload a photo of the card. Some users prefer the masked Aadhaar (showing only the last 4 digits) — both formats are accepted.
- Take a live selfie. This must be a real-time photo taken in the app, not a photo uploaded from the gallery. Good lighting and a neutral expression help the photo match pass on the first try.
- Link your bank account. Enter account number, IFSC, and the name as it appears on the account. The name must match the PAN exactly.
- Submit and wait. Most KYC submissions clear in 2–4 hours during business hours. First-time submissions can take up to 24 hours.
Common reasons KYC gets rejected
From our reader emails and our own testing, the most common rejection reasons are:
- Name mismatch between PAN and Aadhaar. Even a small difference (middle name, spelling) can trigger a manual review. Make sure both documents have the same name.
- Blurry photo of the PAN or Aadhaar card. Use good lighting. Crop to the card. Make sure the photo and signature on the PAN are visible.
- Selfie angle or expression too different from the Aadhaar photo. Remove sunglasses, look straight at the camera, use even lighting.
- Bank account name doesn't match the PAN. Joint accounts or accounts in a different spelling will be rejected. Use a single-holder account in your own name.
How long KYC actually takes
In our testing, the first-time KYC submission took 22 hours (including a manual re-review for a borderline selfie match). Subsequent verifications — for example, re-linking a new bank account — cleared in under an hour. Reader emails confirm a similar pattern.
To avoid surprises, complete KYC the day you sign up, even if you don't plan to withdraw for a while. The approval clock starts at submission, not at withdrawal request.
FAQ
Quick answers for new Exchange22 players.
Can I play on Exchange22 without completing KYC?
Yes, you can deposit and join contests. You cannot withdraw winnings until KYC is cleared.
What if my PAN and Aadhaar names don't match exactly?
Update one of them before submitting KYC. A small mismatch (like a missing middle name) will trigger a manual review that can take 48+ hours.
Can I use a joint bank account?
No. The bank account must be a single-holder account in the same name as your PAN.
