Exchange22 app review 2026: the honest verdict

We spent four weeks on the Exchange22 app, depositing our own money, joining real contests, and withdrawing real winnings. Here's what worked, what didn't, and who the app is right for.

How we tested

Two editors tested Exchange22 on Android (Samsung Galaxy S23, latest stable OS) and iOS (iPhone 14, iOS 17) for four weeks during the early IPL 2026 window. We deposited a combined ₹6,000, joined 47 contests across T20, ODI, and the IPL, and made six withdrawals to UPI to test the cash-out flow. We also went through the full KYC process twice and triggered three support tickets to time the response.

This is not a sponsored review. We do not have a relationship with the Exchange22 operator, and the editorial team has not received any compensation for this article.

What we liked

1. The team builder is genuinely fast

The team builder on Exchange22 is the cleanest we've used in 2026. Filters by role, credit, and recent form are all in the top bar, and you can build a full XI in under three minutes on the first try. The captain and vice-captain selector is a single tap after the XI is locked. By comparison, the bigger apps take two to three times longer for the same workflow.

2. UPI withdrawals actually work

We tested six withdrawals: three of ₹500, two of ₹1,200, and one of ₹8,400. Five cleared in under 15 minutes. The ₹8,400 one took 38 minutes — still well inside the 24-hour window. No "pending review" delays, no manual KYC re-checks mid-withdrawal.

3. Contest variety in the off-hours

Even on a quiet weekday afternoon during the domestic T20 window, Exchange22 had 80+ open contests. The smaller apps often drop to single digits outside of marquee matches. This isn't a deal-breaker but it matters for daily players.

Standout feature: The in-app pitch report card. Before each match, you get a one-tap summary of the pitch type, expected run rate, and the player archetype that's historically scored well there. It's not groundbreaking, but it's the kind of small touch the bigger apps ignore.

What we didn't like

1. KYC took 22 hours on first attempt

On a fresh account, KYC took 22 hours to clear, mostly because the photo match step failed twice before succeeding. The error message was generic. This is the only meaningful friction we hit, and it's worth knowing in advance if you want to play a contest within 24 hours of signing up.

2. No first-time-player tutorial

If you have never played fantasy cricket, Exchange22 throws you straight into the team builder. There's a "How it works" page, but it's three taps deep. The bigger apps have an interactive first-team walkthrough; Exchange22 doesn't yet.

3. Live scoring update lag of 8–12 seconds

Compared to the market leader's 2–3 second lag, Exchange22's live scoring is noticeably slower. Not a deal-breaker, but if you watch your points update ball by ball, it can feel sluggish.

Verdict

Exchange22 is a strong second-tier fantasy app for Indian players. It gets the basics right: UPI deposits and withdrawals, KYC (even if slow the first time), and a clean team builder. The welcome bonus (EXCH22) is competitive, the contest variety is solid, and the support team is responsive on chat.

It's not for you if you want the absolute largest contest pools or the fastest live scoring. It is for you if you play a few contests a week, want clean UX, and prefer a less crowded lobby than the market leader.

Score: 4.0 / 5.
